Treatment options for heavy periods

Are heavy periods taking over your life? You’re not alone.

Many women believe that hormone therapy or a hysterectomy are their only treatment options for heavy periods. There are other treatments available that don’t involve hormones or major surgery.

Talk to your doctor to decide which treatment is best for you. Together, you and your doctor will discuss your heavy periods and their impact on your everyday life. Your best treatment will depend on several factors, including:

  • If you want children in the future
  • Whether you prefer a long-term or one-off treatment
  • Whether you want to take hormones or not
